First publish of Final Paper (10%). Students will submit a substantial first publish of their final paper by October 27. The instructor will provide each student with overall feedback that is to be used to strengthen the final publish. Students will not be graded on each section of the rubric, although they should use this to inform the composition of this publish. Students will be graded on: Is the paper at least 8 pages (not including references and title page)? Does the paper compare and contrast 2 theories using a case example throughout to demonstrate concepts. Your paper will be run through a plagiarism checker – it is your responsibility to view your originality report and correct any errors before the final publish is due. Instances of plagiarism will result in a 0 on the final paper.

The Final Paper Descriiption:
The final paper will be a written compare/contrast paper utilizing a case example (real or made up). Choose two definable theories (one of which must have been covered in this course) and discuss the similarities and differences in terms of the following areas (use the case example to provide examples and illustrate your understanding of the concepts):
Assumptions about the nature of relationships/family
How problems occur within systems
How each addresses and incorporates first-order and second-order levels of conceptualization.
Goals of therapy
Role of the therapist
Key Interventions
How issues of diversity can be incorporated
As not all students taking the course are therapists, the assignment can be tailored to fit the student’s experience. For instance, case examples can be about a non-therapeutic interaction. Alternative projects can also be selected based on the interests and experiences of each student. In such cases please contact the instructor to discuss options. Note the purpose of this is not to prove the superiority of one over another, but to demonstrate an understanding of theory and differences between them.
The final paper must be 10-15 pages (not including title page and references), be in APA format, and include substantial references (min of 10).
