AI is generating a lot of interest — and fear! — in our technical community. Fear, because people think it will take their job and it is generating interest because it has proven to be almost human in its ability to create “original” content for complex written works, graphics and other things.
Your team of three will write (not using Generative AI!) a paper of 10-12 pages covering the following aspects of AI. There are sections of the paper which should be produced from your team (divide the work up!) and, at the end, a section for each team member to contribute their own thoughts and opinions.
Your team should focus its efforts on a specific focus within the broad topic of Artificial Intelligence: LLMs, Generative AI, Image-generation AI (computer vision), or Robotics.
Group Effort: Break these questions up among your team members — all members of the team share these responses:
History: what/who started it (Generative AI) and when?
Why: what problem (if there was one) was it intended to solve? (Or was it just some big experiment which gained success?)
The Players: who are the companies which today lead in Generative AI? How are they different from one another?
The Products: what are the different Generative AI products from The Players? How are these products different today from each other and where do The Players say they want to take their products.
Differentiation: How are The Products different from each other?
Individual Effort: Each team member should contribute their own thoughts/opinions here (put your name at the beginning of your section so I know who wrote it):
Your Opinion of the Present: What Generative AI Product do you think is better, more differentiated, than the others? Why?
Your Opinion of the Future: Where do you see these Generative AI products going in three future?
What Excites you/What Scares you?: (You can combine this was the question above, if you want) — where is the biggest threat and opportunity for Generative AI?
This paper should be a big effort with a lot of your own thoughts and commentary added toward the end.
Make sure you put the name of your team members at the top of your paper!
You will submit it as one BIG paper with all the team members individual thoughts/opinions included together at the end of the document. Any team member can submit it as long as everyone’s name is on the top of the paper.
If you submit a link to a Google Doc, make sure you set the security/sharing so I can EDIT it (so I can add my notations).
Questions? Please ask on the Announcement forum so other people can see the question and my answer or you can email me privately, if that suits you better.
