Case Study
Yvette is a newly registered behavior technician (RBT) who has recently started shadowing Cindy, a veteran board-certified behavior analyst (BCBA) who has been employed at the Best Behaviors Clinic for 15 years. Yvette accompanies the BCBA on a home visit. The client is Jack, a 10-year-old boy diagnosed with autism. He also has several life-threatening food allergies.
Yvette notices as they enter the home that the BCBA embraces Jack’s two younger siblings and his parents. As the family is cooking dinner, Cindy is invited to join them in the kitchen, which she does. She asks Yvette to go meet with Jack in the other room. The BCBA chats casually with Jack’s parents, seemingly updating them on her son’s recent soccer win and her wife’s new job. Cindy finally gets around to asking about how the family has been following Jack’s behavior intervention plan. His parents share that Jack has been stealing food that he is allergic to and becomes aggressive when he is not allowed to have it.
The RBT notices that half the time for the home visit passes before the BCBA joins her in the other room with the client. The visit is concluded without the BCBA making any notes, and no paperwork is immediately completed. Yvette later comments to her RBT colleagues at the clinic that she felt very out of her depth working with a client with problem eating behaviors, as she has no prior experience. She also commented on the BCBA’s casual behavior with the family.
Your PowerPoint should include the following elements:
Title Slide: Provide the assignment title, your name, course and section number, instructor name, and date.
Content Slides: Answer all the questions, reflecting appropriate personal and professional insights.
The assignment must be written in Standard English and demonstrate superior organization, including a highly developed viewpoint and purpose. Your responses should reflect professional writing standards, using proper tone and language. The writing and writing style should be correct and accurate and reflect knowledge of ethics in applied behavior analysis.
Presentations are visual; therefore, use clear, concise bullet points and avoid crowded slides. You may include graphics and SmartArt to streamline information in a memorable manner. Additionally, images and diagrams are wonderful presentation tools, but be sure to include all required citations. Please review the Creating Effective PowerPoint Presentations resource for tips and suggestions. Submissions must be in .pptx format and no larger than 40 MB.
Note: Visual effects and some dark-colored themes, such as Slate, may prevent Turnitin from fully processing a PowerPoint file and, consequently, from generating a Similarity Report. Review the file requirements to ensure a report will be generated.
References Slide: Sources listed in current APA format.
Include a minimum of two scholarly, academic sources to support your responses and conclusions. One should be your text, and the other should be the Ethics Code for Behavior Analysts.
Use Arial or Times New Roman 24-point font.
Use current APA formatting and citation style.
Please use this helpful video resource, APA Style Formatting in PowerPoint, to format a PowerPoint presentation by applying APA style (7th ed.) to a title slide; body slides using bullet points, figures, tables, and copyright statements; and a reference list with hanging indentations.
